Mary Jo Willmore joined the Nia leadership team in 2025 to support our growth and positive impact. She brings over two decades of investment experience leading strategic growth, operational excellence, and capital innovation across the climate and impact investment sectors. As Managing Director of Nia Impact Capital, she embodies a unique blend of leadership, financial acumen, and vision to manage operations, deepen stakeholder relationships and scale the firm to expand its positive impact.

Prior to joining Nia, Mary Jo led Krona, a climate capital advisory practice serving clients to build innovative strategies and create trusted relationships on a global scale. She has also held executive roles at World Tree, a sustainable forestry firm, where she drove a significant expansion in investor engagement and fundraising, and at Sarus Capital Management, an emerging markets investment firm, where she ran operations and fundraising for nearly a decade. Her career is defined by the ability to align big-picture vision with actionable strategy and high-performance teams to build resilient, values-driven organizations.
Mary Jo holds an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a BS in Finance & Accounting from the University of Arizona. She holds the CFA Institute Sustainable Investing Certificate and is an Official Nominator for The Earthshot Prize. Mary Jo serves as the San Francisco Ambassador for Investors for Climate and on the leadership teams of Women Investing for a Sustainable Economy (WISE) and 100 Women in Finance (100WF), global organizations advancing investing in climate, sustainability and supporting female investors.
